Movies starring trans-people are scarce, and this one is all the more rare for being such an exceptionally moving portrayal of a trans-woman's life and loss. "A Fantastic Woman" succeeds, in large, due to the authentic portrayal by the lead actress. She is quietly enraged by the attitudes of people surrounding her and she is a survivor who navigates their phobias and rejection with dignity. Sensitivity is the tool used to open minds and change opinions, something the film succeeds with and audiences will appreciate. An authentic woman.
