At Eternity's Gate

A chronicle of the last few of years of the artist Vincent van Gogh's life, spent mostly in the south of France.

As befits a work of art, "At Eternity's Gate" is based on known events and records, then imaginatively embellished to bring the creative process to life. Creative filmmaking is employed with the colours and textures of the artist being reproduced on the screen; while an interesting, unfocused but impressionistic camera effect tries to let audiences view landscapes as the painter might have done. Viewing is also enhanced by the lead actor's ability to fully embody the tortured artist. Let it Gogh.
