Café Society

Set in the 1930s, a young man leaves the Bronx for L.A. to get a job with his uncle, a Hollywood agent, and falls in love with his uncle's secretary.

Like the characters of this film, you may find yourself longing for what might have been, in this case a more satisfying story-line to accompany the sumptuous visual experience and enlivening jazz soundtrack. It's somewhat paradoxical that "Café Society" is as enjoyable as it is forgettable, as it lacks any lasting after taste to take-away. There's glamour, charm, melancholy and wise-cracks, yet something about this movie is not quite full strength. Decaf.
