Everybody Loves Jeanne

In the aftermath of the death of her mother by suicide, Jeanne travels from Paris to Lisbon to sell her mother's now uninhabited apartment and clear it of her belongings.

The suicide of a parent is an unusual backdrop to a romantic comedy, though "Everybody Loves Jeanne" is quirky and likeable despite its unbalanced storyline. In a sunny setting is no theme too perturbing to be portrayed with a comedic overlay? Is romance an ideal panacea for grief? Tragic issues like a loss by suicide are worthy of a dive from the deep end rather than a splash around in the shallows. Handle me with care.
