Five Feet Apart

Two teenagers with cystic fibrosis meet in hospital and fall in love.

"Five Feet Apart" is a middle-of-the-road production that breaks no new ground and doesn't quite hit the emotional highs that it could. The leading players deliver dazzling and convincing performances and their chemistry (despite their required distance) is believable and heart-wrenching. Unfortunately, the entire story seems like it is simply going through the motions, ticking things off on a checklist for a doomed young adult romance while attempting to emotionally manipulate the audience with every plot device. Can't touch this.
