French Exit

A New York socialite cashes in what's left of her inheritance and moves to Paris with her son and cat.

The title "French Exit" derives from a purported 18th century custom of leaving a gathering without saying goodbye. In this story, a woman is becalmed, distant from the everyday disturbances and characters who surround her. Like the movie itself, the protagonist is interesting but somewhat remote, a disposition key to the plot and not a fault; the lead actor is enchanting. She has poise but is almost suffocated by her own languid pace and air. As dry as a good martini.
