Pete's Dragon

An orphaned boy lost, afraid and alone in the forest is rescued and befriended by a Dragon.

This live action reincarnation is a feel-good family movie that knows all the right moments to tug on the heartstrings. Although the pathos is ladled on a little thick at times, "Pete's Dragon" is old-fashioned storytelling that doesn't fall into the trap of being an effects-driven blockbuster, and offers a strong alternative to a genre dominated by animation. Although far from extraordinary, you're still sure to leave the cinema with a smile. Ride the dragon.
