The Eulogy

Documentary LGBTQIA+

An exploration of the life and art of concert pianist Geoffrey Tozer, recreating Paul Keating's eulogy at his funeral.

The subject is a classical pianist and the tone of this documentary is understandably, almost necessarily, highbrow. "The Eulogy" could be subtitled the 'Pianist and Prime Minister', theirs was an interesting friendship. In the opening scene a maestro questions music students. Had they heard of the man? Have they heard of the PM? The device doesn't quite work, it comes across as patronising, and we lowbrow mortals are made keenly aware of our lesser standing and rough accents. Beautifully composed.
