The LEGO Ninjago Movie

Animation Action Adventure

A teenage ninja seeks to defeat his father, an evil warlord who constantly attempts to take over his city.

"The LEGO Ninjago Movie" isn't completely devoid of charm or laughs, but a muddled narrative and lacklustre verbal byplay makes for an underwhelming instalment of the LEGO franchise. The self-referential humour that was so successful for its predecessors simply gets laid on a little too thick. Though the animated aesthetic and martial-arts sequences are visually grand, there's little else for the 'big kids' to enjoy, while little kids' may become restless during prolonged periods of inactivity. Not so awesome.
