The Mummy

After awakening an evil ancient princess from her crypt beneath the desert, Nick Morton, a soldier of fortune, must stop her from bringing destruction to the globe.

"The Mummy" is the first instalment in this franchise that sets to revamp the back catalogue of classic movie monsters. Unfortunately, the attempt to tap into the lucrative shared-universe market is blatantly obvious and dominates much of the script. It's less a film about mummies and more about the overarching idea of fighting evil. B-grade fun on an A-grade budget; complete with a few thrills and great spectacles... but ultimately dead inside.
