A lone young model navigates her way through the L.A. fashion scene, where beauty is more important than life itself

This is the best example of a director who puts incredible importance on style, commendable because the visuals will no doubt be emulated for time to come. Unfortunately they only feed a flimsy story when it fits. There are big issues tackled, but they're done so with so much poise it can just get plain awkward. You can almost hear the echo in-between the lines of dialogue of these empty characters. It's disturbing, it's dazzling, but totally dead on the inside... just like the models themselves.
