Triangle of Sadness

Seas swell for the wealthy passengers on a luxury cruise and the story descends from one of privileged opulence to a moralistic eat-the-rich fable.

The director takes a heavy-handed absurdist approach with this social commentary, resulting in an overly long movie filled with superficial observations about wealth and class. A few gems of social critique are evident, but most are lost at sea. A scene depicting seasickness, in a grossly extended sequence of vomit-filled drama, doesn't become more meaningful, funnier, or insightful the longer it's discharged onto the screen. Extreme cynicism is so bluntly delivered as to become uninteresting. SOS.
