Sixteen-year-old Nisha struggles to reconcile life as a Norwegian teenager with the expectations of her Pakistani family.

A serious and sobering present-day tale, the storyline is one that new generation immigrant families struggle with; how to assimilate into the local setting while paying heed to the traditions and expectations of family and cultural sensitivities. The director draws on her real-life experiences to chronicle one woman's story on the screen. It's surprising then that "What Will People Say" doesn't pull audiences in with a stronger emotional connection, we're kept at a distance as events unfold. Gossip girl.
