Where the Crawdads Sing

Known by townspeople as 'swamp girl' and standing trial for murder, Kya was abandoned by her family and survived in the marshes of North Carolina from age 10.

The movie "Where the Crawdads Sing" is drawn from the successful novel of the same name, inextricably linking the film experience to that of the book. In this instance the cinema version plays true to the original text but also amplifies the shortcoming of the story plot, highlighting implausible elements. The cinematography is stunning but the pace flatlines without emotional swings in energy and tone needed for audience buy-in. Doesn't quite warble.
