Sollers Point

Drama

A Baltimore youth completes a stretch of home detention in his father's house before having to re-connect with society and finding a job in a neighbourhood that's doing it tough.

"Sollers Point" is named for a location, yet paradoxically the movie has little point but to highlight the difficulties of rehabilitation after jail. Fictional realism is the approach used and there's an episodic feel watching what each day brings, highlighting that there are few happy endings in real life or in a movie. The pace is slow, despair is close to the surface and frustration builds, thankfully redeemed by the closing scenes. Pointless.
